Hydra Art Residency

Founded on the Greek island of Hydra, Mnemosyne Projects was inspired by the island's natural beauty, its unique intercultural artistic setting, and the rich history of the local community. The Hydra Art Residency at the Old Carpet Factory is designed for artists, creatives and educational institutions interested in contributing to our cultural conservation efforts.

The Hydra Art Residency at the Old Carpet Factory a highly selective program that provides an opportunity to access the community of the famed Greek island and to work in the setting of the 18th-century historical mansion. Application is open on a rolling basis in four categories. 

Documenting Hydra

Hydra Art Residency
 This category is ideal for visual artists and cultural institutions but open for all disciplines. Projects in this category contribute to our ongoing efforts to archive and conserve the unique cultural heritage of Hydra Island. Applicants are required to produce a narrative documentation of the island in the form of a visual story, a music piece, a collection of sounds, a text, etc.

Sound Art

This category is perfect for artists working in sound, composition, voice, experimental music or mixed media. We are looking for innovative ideas and new ways creating, interpreting and integrating sounds into natural and built environments. 

Site-specific projects 

Hydra Art Residency
We are looking for site-specific projects that will continue the centuries-long artistic heritage of the Old Carpet Factory mansion and will expand the art collection of the estate.

#LiveatOCF 

The #LiveatOCF residency projects  connect Hydra's local community to the cultures of the world and aim to inspire new ideas that can be valuable for the cultural heritage of the island. This category is designed for musicians interested in performing on Hydra and NGOs focusing on cultural exchange through music.
